Report: MCC Young Cricketers v Yorkshire 2nd XI (Day 3)

— 5 May 2017

Openers Curran and Manuwelge took the score to 103 before the latter was caught behind off Josh Shaw for 35. Josh also soon accounted for Imtiaz but at lunch our lead was only 1 as MCC YC were 163-2, Curran unbeaten on 86 from 108 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes.

Over 200 runs were scored in the afternoon session with Curran still unbeaten on 184 at tea from 201 balls with 24 fours and 4 sixes. We had taken 3 wickets and they led by 207 at 371-5.

Curran departed, well caught low by James Logan on his follow through and from 383-5 they subsided to 390 all out. There were 4 wickets for Logan and 3 for debutant Alec Drury.

This left us with an improbable 227 to win from a minimum of 22 overs. That we gave it a go is credit to everyone. Tattersall 24 from 13, Hodd 26 from 23 and Callis 39 no from 43 but at 5.58 with the score at 121-5 hands were shaken – match drawn.

YCCC 13 points MCC 12 points.
