Will Rhodes helped steer Yorkshire to 384-6, a lead of 127, on Day 2 of their Second XI fixture against Lancashire.

Rhodes showed masterful powers of concentration, batting throughout the day and ending with 170 no from 256 balls with 18 fours – his highest score, beating the 137 made against the same opponents at Aigburth in 2016.

Rhodes and Jonathan Tattersall played sensibly early on, taking the score to 110 before the latter was caught behind for a patient 36 from 92 balls. Together they had added 85 in 117 balls.

Rhodes went on to complete a run-a-ball 50 and had added 35 unbeaten with Matthew Waite, who was 14 no, at lunch.

Tea was reached with Yorkshire three runs ahead at 260-4.
Rhodes remained unbeaten on 113 having completed an excellent 100 and along with Waite added 133 for the fourth wicket. Waite departed shortly before tea, bowled by Simon Kerrigan for 64.

The new ball was taken immediately after tea with Saqib Mahmood generating some pace and carry. Ryan Gibson made 35 from 46 and had added 55 with Rhodes before he was bowled, quickly followed by Jordan Thompson being adjudged lbw for four.

However this brought Matthew Fisher to the wicket and at the close he was unbeaten on 32 from 72 balls.

The match is intriguingly poised with two days remaining, however rain is forecast for part of today.
