Yorkshire struck two early blows to have Nottinghamshire at 752 as Wainman dismissed Smith and Wood but, after that, it was a hard day as the runs piled up and the wickets dried up
A third wicket partnership of 89 between Jake Libby and Billy Root paved the way and this was only broken when Wainman found the edge of Root`s bat to be smartly taken by Jordan Thompson at 2nd slip.
But that was Yorkshire`s last success of the day as Libby completed an unbeaten 152 (250 deliveries with11 fours and one six) as he and Will Gidman (79*) added an unbroken stand of 189 for the fourth wicket.
Nottinghamshire promptly declared at 353/3, with a lead of 247 and a minimum of 29 overs remaining in the day`s play.
But, after Yorkshire had successfully negotiated five overs to reach 9/0, bad light took the players from the field. Rain then began to fall and play was abandoned for the day.
