Academy: Yorkshire v Barnsley

— 23 August 2015

The Academy won the toss and decided to bat on a sunny afternoon at Weetwood.

Eliot Callis (73) and Ben Ainsely (50) added 115 for the first wicket but Ali Jahangir (2/66) and Steven Nuttall (4/54) pegged back the White Rose batsmen and it seemed that the final total would be slightly disappointing.

But Mosun Hussain used his feet to the spinners and his 32 from just 42 deliveries introduced momentum which Matthew Fisher`s 23 from 15 accentuated.

Matthew`s innings contained two huge maximums and the final total of 246/7 looked passable.

Barnsley`s openers started as though they meant to win the game in 20 overs but the introduction of the two slow left-armers, Karl Carver and James Logan, gradually applied the brake.

The first rain interruption at 5.18 lasted 20 minutes and did no real damage but the second one flooded the ground in five minutes and that was that with Barnsley on 86/1 from 25.2 overs. Karl Carver was the successful bowler.
