The day began sunny and warm and Yorkshire promptly declared at 48/1, their overnight total. The Universities then had a 10-over thrash to set the home side 393 in a minimum of 84 overs
Yorkshire had the worst possible start, losing both openers with just a single scored. But then Harry Brook, in as a full substitute for the injured Eliot Callis, and Captain Ryan Gibson added 75 as Brook completed his maiden 2nd XI 50 on debut. Gibson made 38.
However, there was precious little support for these two, apart from Josh Shaw, who was 38* at tea when the rain returned and the game was abandoned, each side taking nine points.
