Day one of the county championship at the Emirates Durham (ICG) saw Durham electing to bat. Two early wickets for Mathew Fisher put Durham on the back foot until keeper Mustard was joined by Tattersall.
The pair pushed around the ground to a team score of 118 for 2 at lunch. After lunch, Tattersall and Mustard continued with stand of 95 before Tattersall (32) was dismissed. Five further wickets fell for 80 off the bat.
After a terrific innings including, 22 boundaries, Mustard (144) was out for the ninth wicket off spin bowler Carver with a catch by ‘el capitan’ Will Rhodes at slip. The next over brought a close to the first innings with a run out. Durham made 252 before tea with 33 overs in the day remaining.
The last session of the day brought Yorkshire’s first innings. The team batted steady but lost three key wickets to the keeper Poynter. It looked set to end the day on 116 for 3 but the last ball of the day from Randhawa threw another challenge into the mix. Gibson (52) was bowled after gaining his 50. The White Rose County end the day with four wickets down.
