The second of our Academy fixtures across the weekend saw us home to York. The Academy on the toss and elected to bat. We started well creating 21 off 6 until Callis was caught in the slips.
A partnership of 36 took the academy over the 50 mark but spin bowlers quickly took effect. The home side were suddenly 76 for 5.
Hussain and Imtiaz worked together to push the score to 117 before Imtiaz was caught at mid-off by Booth whilst making ground. The spin bowlers continued to baffle the academy with a second success for the duo McKendry brothers.
Hussain (67) also fell to spinner Lambert reducing the academy to 162 for 8. Logan and Read created 50 runs between them bringing the innings down to the last over when Read was dismissed followed by a stumping giving Lambert his 4th wicket (4/38).
Yorkshire concluded their innings with two balls left at 213 all out.
Having taken an early wicket the academy players struggled to claim a second. With a hundred run partnership oversea’s Whatley and Booth took the score to within 100 before Booth (64) was caught by Callis at mid-off.
Whatley (61) was dismissed shortly after at a team score of 157. Ryan McKendry and Collins brought the game to a close by securing the remaining 57 runs to give York the full 8 points.
