2nd XI: Yorkshire lose by nine wickets at Sussex

— 7 August 2015

Yorkshire struggle to fight against Sussex in a friendly at Hove.

Following from yesterday’s extra half an hour play, Ashraf required 3 runs to reach his 50. However, Shutt was caught by Burgoyne to end the innings leaving Ashraf 49 not out.

Sussex captain, Jackson and Haines came to claim the remaining 78 runs required to win the game. Ashraf and Wainman kept the bowling tight to limit Sussex to 24 before the first wicket fell. Haines was caught at third slip by Firn from Ashraf.

Finch came to assist Jackson (30*) to reach their target with an incredible 31 runs off 17 balls including 4 boundaries and 2 maximums.

A long 4 day match was over, Sussex victorious. A learning curve for the white rose side which hopefully they will put into practise next week at Durham in the county championship.
