The beginning of day 3 didn’t look as promising as previous days with a heavy mist and sea drizzle tempting a delayed start time. However, Sussex continued their innings with another 56 runs before Ashraf (4/73) claimed the final 2 wickets assisted by two other run outs by Thompson and Callis.
Yorkshire came back to the crease in their 2nd innings with a similarly scenario as before. Yorkshire were 33 without loss at lunch however with each bowler taking a slice of the action, the side were soon reduced to 105 for 5 by tea.
With Sussex leading by 61 runs a feeling of match completion on day 3 was mounting. By 6pm Yorkshire were 204 for 9 and an extra half an hours play was called to try and pose a result tonight.
An unbeaten ninth-wicket partnership between Ashraf (47*) and Shutt (6*) saw the close of play at 234 for 9.
