U17: Yorkshire gain win over Lancashire at Todmorden

— 16 July 2015

Day Two

Yorkshire win on 1st innings h3. Bonus points: Yorkshire 16; Lancashire 6

Resuming at 57 for 3, Yorkshire lost their fourth wicket to the ninth ball of the day.

Anjam and Brown then added 31 before the former was caught behind for 15. Wicket keeper Read joined Brown with a further 24 being scored when Read was well caught by Brownlow.

At lunch we had reached 118-6 from 62 overs (24 of them being maidens), Brown 35 not out and still 104 behind.

James Brown duly completed his 50 from 158 balls with eight fours and agonisingly fell three runs short of a thoroughly deserved 100 when caught behind for 97 from 223 balls with 15 fours. In total he batted for 248 minutes, facing 182 “dot” balls, showing fight, maturity and no little skill.

The last four wickets added 132 and we were all out after tea for 244.

Onto Urmston CC tomorrow for the one-day game.
