CENTURIES FOR GIBSON & HUSSAIN IN MAMMOTH STAND

— 10 June 2015

The weather stayed as promised and the day could not have gone better for the 2nd XI.

Scorecard

After the Firsts had beaten the League leaders, a stand of 223 for the fifth wicket between Ryan Gibson (137*) and Mosun Hussain (104), each of whom registered their maiden Championship century as well as their highest scores for Yorkshire, took the game away from Northants and ensured that only one team could henceforth win the game.

They efforts came from 301 deliveries in just 217 minutes at a rate seldom below four per over.

Earlier, Dan Hodgson and Andrew Hodd had got the ball rolling with a third wicket stand of 88 before both departed in quick succession to leave the innings precariously placed on 118/4. But, as it turned out, that stand was merely the hors d`oeuvres for the main course.

Yorkshire declared to leave their opponents an awkward chunk of nine overs and it almost brought a wicket as a drive in the air by Saif Zaib was parried at gully but the rebound was unfortunately missed.

But Yorkshire still have all day tomorrow to try to force a victory. They have a mountain of runs on the board and can keep attacking fields as long as they want.
