Yorkshire Women’s will take on reigning NatWest Women’s County T20 champions Nottinghamshire in a T20 match at Headingley on Friday June 19.
The match, which will feature a host of England internationals including the Yorkshire trio of Katherine Brunt, Danielle Hazell and Lauren Winfield and Notts’ stars Jenny Gunn and Danielle Wyatt, will start at 1.00pm and will showcase the women’s game before the main event later in the day when the Yorkshire Vikings take on the Notts Outlaws in NatWest T20 Blast at 7.00pm.
Both sides have started the Royal London Women’s Cup with two wins a piece in the 50-over format and with the NatWest Women’s T20 group matches ready to commence over the next three months, both sides will be looking to progress through to the latter stages of the competition in 2015.
“It is a great opportunity for the women’s game to showcase their skills at Headingley,” said Jane Hildreth, Lead Director for Women & Girls Cricket at Yorkshire Cricket
“Just like the men’s game, the T20 format is major part of the women’s season and from a Yorkshire point of view we want to have a successful campaign this summer. We certainly have the squad to do well and the test against champions Notts will be good for us.
“The team are excited to be playing at Headingley and hopefully those members and supporters, who have never seen the women’s team before will come along early and enjoy a great day of top-class cricket.”
The match gets underway at 1.00pm and turnstiles will open from 12.30pm on the St Michael’s Lane side of the Headingley complex. The match is general admission. Admission prices are adults £18.00, when purchased in advance of the day, (£23 on the day), seniors £10 in advance (£15 on the day), juniors and students, (with a valid Student ID), £5.00. Family tickets, (2 adults and 2 juniors, 16 and under), can be purchased by contacting the ticket office on 08435 043099, (£30 in advance, £40 on the day).
