A cloudy bank holiday Monday saw the Academy home to Doncaster Town who were also looking for the second win of the weekend.
With the away side opting to bat first, it looked like a big score was to be made when Fisher took the first victim of the day with a catch at slip by Thompson. Cox and Guy replied with a partnership of 31 before Guy fell to first change bowler Waite. With the middle order struggling to bat against bowler Waite, Doncaster were quickly 44 for 4 from 12 overs.
Doncaster Town battled on until Cox (35) was dismissed by the straight bowling of Warner. Within two overs, the away side were reduced from 57 for 5 to 69 all out, by Warner (27 for 5) and Waite (23 for 4) with the remaining 5 wickets being dismissed for 0 runs.
With a quick turnaround, the academy were out to bat with a change in the batting order from previous weeks. No sooner had the innings commenced, the Academy were 10 for 2 due to opener Brown (27 for 2). Was this the sign that the wicket favored the bowling side?
Callis (38*) and Ainsley (18*) took the home side to an 8 wicket victory with a partnership of 61 from 13 overs. The Academy had achieved their second win of the weekend climbing the table to 41 points.
