Close: Kent 2nd XI v Yorkshire 2nd XI (Day Two)

— 14 May 2015

A beautiful early summers day greeted us as Yorkshire decided to bat on.

Resuming at 455-8, we added 43 before being dismissed for 498 leaving Matthew Waite undefeated on 85.

James Wainman struck with the very first ball having Selman caught behind but Kent reached lunch without further loss at 65-1. Ball unbeaten on 18 and Dickson 33 no.

Ball and trialist, Dickson, remained unbeaten at tea when they had taken the score to 204-1. In total they added 228 for the 2nd wicket before Dickson was caught at 1st slip by Richard Pyrah from the bowling of Liam Plunkett for 139 from 193 balls with 21 fours and 2 sixes. Liam claimed another within 2 overs and Kent were now 240-3.

Ball went on to make 92 (12×4; 1×6) from 186 balls until he too was caught at slip, this time by Plunkett from the bowling of Moin Ashraf. Ashraf claimed another soon after and with Wainman also claiming his second wicket Kent closed at 336-6 having made 132-5 in the 32 overs of the last session.

Changes are to be made to both sides tomorrow due to first team calls but if the weather forecast is correct we may be holding heats for the 100 metre breaststroke on the outfield rather than playing cricket!!!
