After the success of winning the opening friendly at Headingley we headed south west to the County Ground at Bristol for the next three-day friendly.
Matthew Fisher’s first team appearance led to Karl Carver joining the team and on a sunny, if somewhat cool morning, we were asked to bat first on a greenish looking wicket.
Elliot Callis and Jonny Tattersall were soon back “in the tent” but skipper Dan Hodgson and Ben Ainsley added 58 in 75 balls for the third wicket before Ben was well taken at third slip for 31 from 38 balls with seven fours.
Ryan Gibson joined his captain and at lunch they had added a further 73 to leave us on 133-3 with Ryan 47no and Dan 43no.
Skipper Hodgson completed a watchful and responsible century from 192 balls with 17 fours finishing 105no as we posted 256 in 72.2 overs. Ryan Gibson earlier made 52 from 61 balls with 11 fours.
There were 31 overs remaining and during that time Gloucestershire reached 131-2, a wicket each for Wainman and Waite whilst Smith made 50 and Hammond 44 both from 74 balls.
There were 26 boundary fours.
