British pop icons Madness to perform at Headingley

Headingley Cricket Ground is to stage its first ever music concert later this year with news that British pop legends Madness will be performing at the historic venue on Friday September 18.

  • Fresh off the road from their sell out 2014 arena tour, Madness will be at the home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club as part of their Grandslam Tour, which is being billed the UK’s greatest ever live open air tour…ever!

    The band said, “Come see, come see! The world’s strongest band perform incredible feats live! Marvel as Madness lift an enormous set of polished pop songs high in the air, single handed! The UK’s biggest open air tour ever! Rolling into a town near you, soon.”

  • The tour, which runs from May to September 2015, will take in 19 Shows at some of the greatest sporting venues around the country, including racecourses, cricket grounds, rugby and football stadiums.

    These shows will offer the concertgoers the unique experience of an outdoor event with a festival vibe, set within these the iconic huge green spaces and amazing sporting venues.

    Madness will be performing inimitable quirky pop classics such as “House of Fun”, “Baggy Trousers” and “My Girl”, iconic songs that are guaranteed to draw you in, get you dancing and singing along. The band will also be performing some of their new songs, their first new recordings in three years.

    “This will be the first time that Headingley Cricket Ground has staged a music concert,” said YCCC Commercial Director Andy Dawson.

    “We are delighted to be welcoming Madness and the Grandslam Tour to Leeds. We are expecting the concert to be very popular and anticipate a sell-out crowd of in excess of 14,000.”

    Corporate hospitality packages are now available priced £125, which includes access to the Gladness Beer Garden, private viewing function suite including cash bar facility and grazing buffet.

    Madness are the band of the people, who inject fun into everything they do and this tour promises to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see one of the greatest bands in the world play the historic Headingley Cricket Ground.
