Century-maker Aaron Finch says he has already benefited from his short spell in county cricket and would “jump at the chance” to return to Yorkshire at some stage.
“It was nice to contribute to a couple of big partnerships with Jonny and Rich Pyrah,” said Finch, who kissed the White Rose on his helmet upon reaching his ton. “It was pretty pleasing to get my first hundred for Yorkshire.
“It’s a great place to be a part of, and I’m very grateful that they’ve given me the opportunity to play some cricket. I’m happy that I’ve got some runs. Hopefully we can bowl really well and win a match.
“Four-day cricket’s been a part of my game that’s been lacking in the past, and one that I’ve under performed in. To get the opportunity here on the back of a couple of poor seasons for Victoria, I’m very grateful.
“Those guys (Gale, Lees, Bairstow) will be a little bit disappointed that they didn’t go on and get some big scores on a good wicket, as I am. I didn’t really go and create a really significant lead. It’s obviously nice to have 194 in front. I think the way that Alex, Jonny and Rich played, and even Steve Patterson contributed. That can create a real headache for the opposition.”
