2nd XI: Yorkshire v Kent Scarborough

— 28 May 2014

Day 1:

Given the weather throughout the whole of the morning and an early lunch taken at 12.30 pm, the fact that play was then able to begin after a large mopping-up session was testimony to the keenness of the Umpires to try to get some play.

But then, after waiting around until 2.15 pm, only nine overs were ultimately possible. Yorkshire won the toss and chose to bat on a greenish-looking strip and quickly lost Callis for one and Tattersall for the same score. Jack Leaning, who had come in at number three, started slowly but, having changed his bat, seemed to be settling down, along with Will Rhodes when the rain returned, the covers went back on and that was that for the day.

We try again tomorrow, with a forecast that would appear to hold out absolutely no hope of even starting.

Day 2:

No play on Day 2. The 3-day game has now been abandoned and a one-day game (50 overs per side) will be started on Thursday (weather permitting).
