Great news for all Yorkshire supporters, the BBC local radio online cricket commentary service will return this week for the opening match of the season against Leeds/Bradford MCCU commencing on Tuesday April 1.
Yorkshire supporters will be able to hear the dulcet tones of Dave Callaghan over the airwaves with full coverage of every match in the 2014 season.
BBC Radio Leeds and the Yorkshire stations have been involved in this comprehensive coverage for 10 years, but during the 2013 season the BBC and the ECB rolled the project out across all the counties and it has proved to be a huge success.
Commentator Dave Callaghan has now chalked up 32 years on the county circuit, including two spells covering Yorkshire, and is proud of this particular news from the BBC.
Dave explains: “It has been announced that the most listened to commentaries feature Yorkshire. I am delighted that we are number one and great credit must go to my colleagues at the BBC in Leeds and around Yorkshire. The support I receive from the club and the efforts from supporters of this great county is why we have come out tops.
“However my fellow commentators and their counties will be pushing us hard and I know the fans of Yorkshire Cricket will ensure we stay at the helm.
“This year it is my ambition to achieve a double. The most listened to service covering the county champions! Over to you Galey….”
