Yorkshire Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon was delighted with his side’s performance in their six run victory over Derbyshire Falcons at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield on Sunday.
Showing great determination and some excellent fielding and bowling, Yorkshire came through a tough test against Derbyshire and have set their sights on winning every remaining match in the Friends Life T20 group to give themselves every chance of qualifying for the quarter-final stage.
“We were obviously disappointed with the performance on Friday, and we wanted to react to that today,” said Moxon.
“There was a lot of pressure on us to win today and the boys thrived on that pressure.
“It has been a difficult weekend, especially with the news of Jason Gillespie’s (Yorkshire coach) father passing away on Saturday I think that situation gave us a little bit more. We wanted to do it for Jason. Those two things combined.
“Once again we were outstanding in the field. It was a slow pitch, so it was difficult to know 100 per cent what a good score was. We were probably 10 or 15 short of what we have ideally wanted.
“We’ve got to win probably all four games now. We’re hanging in. We haven’t quite hit our straps, but we’re still in there. If we can get some momentum we will be hard to beat.”
