Pinsent Masons win corporate Golf Day challenge

— 3 July 2013

Tuesday 2nd July saw Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s first successful corporate Golf Day, setting the par for their projected annual golfing events.

Pinsent Masons, one of the Club’s sponsors became the first winners to be engraved on the brand new The White Rose Cup , landing a ‘course perfect’ score of 96.  They also won a complete set of brand new Nike golfing gear, kindly provided by Yorkshire sponsors Direct Golf.

Pinsent Mason were closely followed by Yorkshire’s own team, lead by Chief Executive Mark Athur, who finished with a modest 95 and won themselves brand new golf club bags.

BackUp Technology came in third, the team joined by Yorkshire’s Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon, whilst McCormick’s Solicitors came in a close fourth place.

Leeds Met University and ATP Marketing finished a joint 5th place, both finishing the course with 90 and walking away with a Yorkshire CCC golfing shirt and pins respectively.

Rudding Park Golf Course were the perfect hosts for the occasion, setting a challenging but entertaining course for our corporate teams and providing them with early morning breakfast fuel before tee off.

Hiding around the 18 hole course were a few competitive challenges set to test the golfer’s skill and technique for great prizes.  Yorkshire’s bowler Richard Pyrah got busy preparing himself for his eventual cricket retirement, winning not only the Longest Drive with 285 yards but also getting closest to the pin in 2 shots, being 5”4 from the pin. Jonathan Gain from Pinsent Masons won the nearest to the pin prize, as close as 7”8.

The day was rounded off with a huge barbeque provided by Rudding Park Golf Course, filling the hungry golfer’s appetites.  Direct Golf Commercial Managet Steven Lewis and Commercial Director Andy Dawson, joined by Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon then presented the winners with their incredible golfing prizes; all donated by Direct Golf and YCCC themselves.

All players enjoyed themselves and are already looking forward to retaining or claiming the title prize next year.  Yorkshire County Cricket Club would like to thank Rudding Park Golf Course and Direct Golf LTD for all their work and involvement in such a hugely successful event.
