Jason Gillespie has re-affirmed his commitment to Yorkshire in the wake of former Yorkshire batsman Darren Lehmann’s appointment as the new Australia coach.
Gillespie has ruled out the possibility of joining up with Lehmann, insisting he is happy with life at Headingley.
Asked if he has been in contact with either Lehmann or Cricket Australia regarding a role, he said: “No I haven’t, and that won’t be happening.
“I’m Yorkshire’s first-team coach, and I love my job. My family’s very happy here and settled, and I’ll be here. Simple. I’m committed to Yorkshire, so I’ll be here.
“We feel as a support staff that we’re working well together, and we’re getting a good response from our players.
“We want to see them do really well and have some success. That’s our goal, and I’m really excited to be a part of it. I want that to continue.”
Gillespie, however, did admit that he would have no qualms advising Lehmann on any issue should the Yorkshire legend asks for advice.
