Pyrah hopes victory will spur Vikings on

— 20 May 2013

Yorkshire Vikings secured their first Yorkshire Bank 40 victory of the season with a five wicket win over Unicorns at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.

The Vikings were made to work hard for their efforts and all-rounder Richard Pyrah believes that the team can now kick on in one-day cricket.

“We have started well in four-day cricket, but we’ve had a couple of defeats in this early on. It was important we got a win today.

“The pitch was very slow. It was hard on top, but damp underneath. It made it very difficult to score.

“Unicorns are a decent team. They’ve got players who’ve played quite a lot of first-class cricket, and you can’t underestimate them. After a not so good game against Somerset, this was important for us today.”

Yorkshire now have a break from cricket for the next week, because of the Second Investec Test Match at Headingley starting on Friday. There next match is against Middlesex Panthers at Radlett, in the YB40, on Bank Holiday Monday May 27 2013.
