Alec Stewart OBE visited Yorkshire Cricket Centre on behalf of Yorkshire Bank last week to coach prospective cricket stars, in a unique session with Leeds Rugby Foundation and Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket.
School aged budding cricketers were treated to exclusive tours of Headingley Cricket Ground with The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation following a morning of coaching with England’s most capped former captain.
Alec was on hand for batting and bowling masterclasses as well as recalling matches he played as a professional cricketer, including the famous 1998 Test Match at Headingley.
“I’ve been involved with Yorkshire Bank for a number of years now” Alec said after the sessions. “The bank are doing what they can do but then it needs centres like this, it needs coaches to put in the time so it’s nice to see (the young cricketers) taking part in what is a great sport of cricket.”
