2ND XI REPORT: KENT VS YORKSHIRE - DAY THREE

Day 3 commenced with Kent leading by 86 with eight wickets remaining – Matthew Fisher removed Aldred caught behind by Isaac Light for 25 (85-3) however Nightingale and first innings centurion, Ul-Hassan added 69 before Josh Sullivan had the latter lbw for 31 followed shortly after by Moore similarly dismissed by Harry Sullivan – 159-5 a lead of 186.

Nightingale had reached his half century from 106 balls and at lunch he was undefeated on 77 as Kent had taken their lead past 200.

Nightingale had reached 90 when he was lbw to Jack Shutt but not before he and James Logan had taken the s ore to 204-6, a partnership of 45. Logan reached his half century from 110 balls and made 68 before being caught at square leg by Ben Cliff to give Shutt his second and an over before tea Kent declared at 275-8 setting Yorkshire 303 to win – there were 33 overs remaining in the day.

James Wharton went first for 18 being caught at mid on (29-1) followed by a 52 run partnership between Yash Vagadia and Will Bennison; this ended when the latter was calamitously run out for 13. Yorkshire were then 81-2. Vagadia posted his half century from76 balls but was caught at short leg for 56 followed soon after by Josh Sullivan being caught at first slip for nought – Yorkshire closed on 108-4 needing a further 195 for victory or to draw the game which may be enough to seal the Championship.
