Yorkshire's Championship relegation confirmed

— 12 September 2011

Bad news today when Kemar Roach bowled Durham’s Will Smith to claim Worcestershire’s third wicket against Durham to give the Pears their first bowling bonus point and condemn Yorkshire to relegation from Division One of the LV= County Championship.

Last week’s win against Somerset gave Yorkshire a very faint glimmer of hope but that has now disapperead and Division Two awaits next season.

Thanks to all Yorkshire members and supporters for their unrivalled support throughout the 2011 season. It has been appreciated.

That support as we regroup and push for promotion back to Division One will be a massive boost to everyone at Yorkshire County Cricket Club. It’s been a disappointing summer, but let’s stick together, fight for the White Rose and get back to where we belong in 2012!
