Rhodes to captain England under 19s One-Day Squad

— 7 August 2014

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today announced a 13-man England Under 19s squad to play a five-match Royal London One-Day International series against South Africa U19s.

Yorkshire’s Will Rhodes will once again lead the side, with the series getting underway on August 15 at Edgbaston, following the conclusion of the two-match Test series between the two teams. The second Test match started today at Northampton.

England Development Programme Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney, said: “South Africa are the current U19 World Champions in 50 over cricket, so this five match Royal London ODI series against them presents the perfect opportunity for the selected England players to really test their skills in a challenging environment.

“As evidenced by the drawn first Test match between the two teams at Fenner’s last week, the sides are very evenly matched, so I expect a high-quality, closely contested series.”
