Yorkshire have been impressive in the field on the second day of their 2-day match against the Sri Lanka Development Squad at the P. Sara Oval, Colombo. Having been bowled out on the opening day for 280.
Adam Lyth’s men were professional throughout working hard on their endurance and skills in what has been the hottest day of the club’s two-week pre-season tour of Sri Lanka.

With temperatures hitting 42C on the centre strip, the wickets were shared out as the host were eventually dismissed for 174 from 54.2 overs. Leading the way was occasional spinner Jonathan Tattersall taking four wickets for 26 runs from 4.2 overs. All-rounder Adil Rashid chipped in with three wickets for 45 runs from 14 overs, including three maidens. Young seamer Ben Coad, who has impressed immensely throughout the tour, took two wickets for 23 from 8 overs, including the dismissal of free-flowing opener Wabuge for 49.
Yorkshire took a lead of 106 runs going into their second innings and the objective was for the top-order to bat out the rest of the day and to get as much time in the middle as possible.
Dan Hodgson has impressed with both the gloves and the bat in Sri Lanka.
Openers Lyth and Dan Hodgson put on 53 runs from 100 balls for the first wicket before Hodgson chopped on for 18.
Lyth was in good touch, as he reached 32 from 59 balls, before he was trapped in front.
It was left to Gary Ballance and Adil Rashid to see out the day – as the match closed with Yorkshire on 84 from 25 overs.
