Pyrah coaches the next generation in South Africa— 24 February 2014
This February half-term saw Pro Coach, Yorkshire’s Coaching Partner, host a 10-day training camp in South Africa at the world class training facilities at North West Cricket, Potchefstroom, South Africa.
The boys are living the life of a Test cricketer, and loving every minute of it. To be able to have grass nets and play matches at this time of year is a fantastic opportunity for them all. Spread across the eight- day camp the tourists will play two 50-over matches and one T20 and train each day.
Richard Pyrah sat on the front row, third from the left.
“The cricket we are playing is very challenging, not only due to the weather conditions, but due to the standard of the opposition. The young players here are not only physically very strong, but their skills are also very advanced. Having the weather to train outside regularly and develop young athletes is more apparent than ever. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our young players to see that sport is a way of life in other countries, as well as what is expected of young players, experience their warm hospitality and see how humble they are.”
Pro Coach will hold an annual trip to South Africa to let young players in England experience this way of life. We are proud to be able host such a dedicated training camp and thank our coaches for their hard work on the trip.
Pro Coach has a further pre-season training camp planned to the La Manga sports complex. Where you will spend 8 days working in some of the best first class training facilities this coming Easter from 5th to 12th April, and with further tours planned for your 2015 pre-season, these tours really are a once in a lifetime experience for any young cricketer looking to make a difference to their pre-season preparations.

Yorkshire’s own Richard Pyrah is part of the coaching team and has been impressed with the facilities on offer in Potch.
“This is a world-class centre for cricket and the lads that are out here are very lucky to be afforded such outstanding facilities,” said Pyrah.
“I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world playing and training. Throughout my career I have never come across anything like I’ve seen in Potch. These are best facilities I’ve ever seen.
“The EDP (England) bowlers are currently here taking part in their own training camp, it’s inspiring to to follow the next generation of England Test cricketers into the nets. It really drives home the fact that we are in one of the world’s best facilities. We are living in a custom-built training facility for sportspeople from around the world, all searching for excellence in their discipline.
“Our young cricketers are rubbing shoulders with athletes from all over the world, taking part in all different sports, it’s great for them to see the dedication and way of life it takes to reach the top of any sport when you are striving for excellence.
