New trophy to be presented in April to honour Second Team Cricket— 8 February 2014
A new trophy will be presented this year after the Club commissioned the Howard Clayton Trophy.
Named after the current Second XI and England under 19s scorer, Howard Clayton, the inaugural award will be presented on April 4.
The award will be given to what is described as the Second XI Performance of the Year.
“As the season progressed, it became apparent to the coaching staff and I that we needed to celebrate a significant performance from within the Second Team camp,” said Howard.
“The new trophy will be awarded for the best individual performance in any format of second team cricket, given the match conditions and the effect of the performance had on the result of the game.
“The winner will be announced on April 4 from a list of nominations drawn up for the coaches to consider.”
Full details will be revealed in due course.
