Test Match early purchase discount period extended

— 7 January 2014

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club have today announced that they have extended their early bird discount for 2014 Test Match tickets until the end of January.

"We are getting close to selling out some of the best seats for the first two days of the Test Match. I would urge cricket fans to start buying now to ensure they reserve their seats before they are all sold out." - Mark Arthur

England welcome Sri Lanka to Headingley on Friday June 20 2014 for the second Investec Test Match and fans can take advantage of £5 off all tickets until January 31. Adult tickets start from £27.00 for days one and two, £25.00 for day three and the outstanding value of £15.00 for day four.

Tickets sales are have been encouraging since they went on sale two months ago. Forty percent of available tickets are already sold for the opening day of Test Match and over 60 percent have been snapped up for the second day on Saturday June 21.

“We have had a fantastic response from ticket buyers so far,” said Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s Chief Executive Mark Arthur.

“I have come into contact with hundreds of cricket followers during my visits to cricket clubs across the county during the close season, and everyone I speak to talks positively about this summer’s Test Match at Headingley. Most of these clubs are now starting to think about cricket and organising net sessions for their players. With that in mind, I felt it was important to extend our early bird purchasing discount period until the end of January giving these cricket fans the opportunity to take advantage of the offer.

  • “We introduced a number of pricing initiatives, which have been well received. We are getting close to selling out some of the best seats for the first two days of the Test Match. I would urge cricket fans to start buying now to ensure they reserve their seats before they are all sold out.

“The Test series against Sri Lanka is already looking intriguing. With England set to blood a number of new players in the Test arena, this will be the first opportunity we will get to see the new era of English cricket against a competitive Sri Lanka side under the leadership of our former second team coach Paul Farbrace.”

Meanwhile, tickets for the fifth Royal London One-Day Cup between England and World Champions India at Headingley on Friday September 5 2014 are selling well with over 70 percent of the ground already sold out for the final match of the series.
