Yorkshire trio miss out on England U19s success

— 22 December 2013

Yorkshire had three representatives in England’s under 19s side that lost to Pakistan in the final of the Tri-series in Dubai.

Batsman Jonathan Tattersall, all-rounder Will Rhodes (pictured), who captained the side, and seam bowler Matthew Fisher were unsuccessful in their bid to topple Pakistan who remained unbeaten in the competition which also featured Bangladesh.

Pakistan eased to a 97-run victory over England in the final. Having totalled 247 for seven after being asked to bat, Pakistan dismissed England for just 150 to seal a comprehensive success.

The trio have had a good tour and will learn from the experience alongside Karl Carver and Josh Shaw.

Jonathan Tattersall threatened a significant innings yet, at the point of his departure for 32, England were 56 for four. The slump continued thereafter, although Joe Clarke and Luke Wood provided hope from the unlikely position of 95 for eight.
The former struck a fine 40 and the latter 24 not out, yet their efforts ultimately proved futile.

They will now return home before heading back to the UAE in February for the ICC Under 19s World Cup.
