Four stars of the future join full-time ranks

— 3 December 2013

Yorkshire County Cricket Club have awarded four players with full-time junior professional contracts for their outstanding contribution in 2013.

England under 19s stars Will Rhodes and Jonathan Tattersall are joined by seamer Ben Coad and all-rounder Oliver Robinson.

  • Rhodes,18 (pictured above), an all-rounder who was a mainstay in Yorkshire’s YB40 campaign last year and Tattersall (left), 18, a talented top-order batsman who made his senior one-day debut in 2013, are currently touring the UAE with the England under 19s set-up.

  • Harrogate-born Coad (right), 19, who had a consistent season with the ball in the Second XI, will be looking to continue his development alongside Robinson (below), 20, who impressed for the 2nd XI towards the end of last season after moving to Yorkshire with his family from Kent.

“The junior pro contract bridges the gap between Academy and 2ndXI cricket,” said Yorkshire’s Director of Cricket, Martyn Moxon.

  • “We have some quality players coming through the grades and the four lads we have rewarded deserve to be recognised.

“They have had a taste of first team cricket last season and I look forward to seeing them flourish over the year ahead. They all have the potential of making a big impact in the game and being part of our plans for many years to come.”

The four players join seam bowler James Wainman as Yorkshire’s five junior professionals. The Club is set to confirm the full make-up of its playing squad by the end of the year.
