2014 Fixtures

— 26 November 2013

Yorkshire County Cricket Club will start the new 2014 LV= County Championship with a trip to Somerset at Taunton on Sunday April 13 before their first home match of the season against newly-promoted Northamptonshire at Headingley commencing Sunday April 20.

We complete the first month of the season with a Championship match against Middlesex at Lord’s on Sunday April 27 and commence the season at Headingley, in a three-day friendly match against Leeds Bradford MCCU on Tuesday April 1 2013.

The eagerly-anticipated series of matches against arch-rivals Lancashire start on Sunday May 25, when the Red Rose county head to Headingley in the LV= County Championship. The return fixture is at Emirates Old Trafford starting on Sunday August 31. We then travel to Emirates Old Trafford on Friday June 26 for a NatWest T20 Blast encounter with the return match taking place at Headingley on Friday June 27 2013. In the new Royal London One Day Cup, the new 50-over format, we face Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford on Saturday July 26.

“It is always a popular day for our members, when the fixtures are announced,” Yorkshire CCC Chief Executive Mark Arthur.

“It is always a popular day for our members, when the fixtures are announced” said Yorkshire CCC Chief Executive Mark Arthur.

“It is a step in the right direction that we have more structure to the cricket season. With most Championship matches commencing on a Sunday, that gives us a consistent start date through the campaign, which is a positive move to make the game more accessible.

“The new T20 format is a step in the right direction too, with matches taking place from May to August. For the majority of our T20 home matches, Friday nights at Headingley will be the place to be in the summer to watch top-class cricket. We will be working aggressively on our marketing and promotion of these matches to attract big crowds and create a carnival atmosphere for families and the perfect stage for the players to perform.

Yorkshire members, who traditionally enjoy their cricket in Scarborough, will have a feast of action in 2014. The 128th Scarborough Cricket Festival starts with two 50-over matches – Essex face the Vikings on Monday August 11, two days later Derbyshire are in town on Wednesday August 13. Festival week ends in style with a Championship match against Sussex commencing on Friday August 15.

“Matches at Scarborough are always eagerly-anticipated, not only by members but the players too,” added Arthur.

“In 2014, Scarborough will continue to set the benchmark for County cricket across the country. There will 10 days of cricket at North Marine Road with a superb festival anticipated during the second week of August where there’ll be an extensive week of cricket involving the first team.”

During 2014, Yorkshire Vikings will have seven matches in the newly named NatWest T20 Blast. The new season will run from May to August with the Vikings starting their campaign against reigning champions Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Headingley on Friday May 16. Friday nights will become the norm for T20 cricket in 2014 with a further five fixtures taking place at Headingley on a Friday. Key fixtures for the diary include:

Yorkshire Vikings v Derbyshire Falcons Friday May 30
