The Yorkshire County Cricket Club can confirm that it will host next year’s final One Day International between England and World Champions India at Headingley on Friday September 5 2014.
This will be the 39th International fixture staged at Headingley since the ground gained its One Day International status back in 1973.
“We are delighted to be staging a key match in next year’s One Day International Series,” said Yorkshire Chief Executive Mark Arthur.
“The venue is guaranteed international cricket every year until at least 2019 and to be in a position to welcome India, the current ICC World Champions, playing against a strong England side will be very exciting.
“International cricket is vital in our development as a world class venue hosting the best teams in the world. Headingley has staged some fantastic international fixtures down the years and next year’s Indian tour is expected to be very competitive. This will be the sixth time that England have played India in a One Day international on the ground and this could well be the most hotly contested match between the two nations ever staged at Headingley.”
“We will be announcing our ticket prices and selling procedures in due course and we will be urging supporters to book early to avoid missing out. This week’s international between England and Australia has been sold out for many weeks and we expect the demand for next year’s match to be just as fervent.”
Headingley will also stage a Test Match in 2014, when England take on Sri Lanka. Confirmation of the date will be announced in due course.
