Yorkshire first-team coach Jason Gillespie has flown out to Australia for his father Neil’s funeral.
He is due back at Headingley for the latter stages of their LV= County Champ-ionship match against Warwickshire next weekend.
Gillespie set off to Adelaide with his mother Vicki on Wednesday prior to the Friends Life t20 defeat against Lancashire and will return to England on August 4.
He will miss the final two t20 North Division matches against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge tomorrow night and Leicestershire at Grace Road on Sunday, as well as at least the first two days of the Warwickshire match. That fixture starts next Friday.
The news was confirmed by director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon following the Roses loss. Gillespie’s father died of a heart attack in Leeds on July 13.
