Jaques out with a rib injury— 20 July 2013
Yorkshire’s top-order batsman Phil Jaques has been sidelined with a muscle tear under his rib in the Club’s latest LV= County Championship match against Derbyshire at Chesterfield.
Jaques, who scored his first century of the season with an excellent 139 against Derbyshire, picked up the injury whilst batting.
He is set to be out of action for four to five weeks and the Yorkshire medical team have earmarked the Championship match against Nottinghamshire on August 21 for his return.
“It is disappointing news that Phil has sustained a rib injury,” said Yorkshire Head Physiotherapist Scot McAllister.
“He only came back from a stomach strain a few weeks back and was looking in good shape. His innings was outstanding, but he felt a slight pain under his rib after making a pull shot.
“He won’t play any further part in this game and will start a rehabilitation programme over the next four weeks.”
