Hodgson, Leaning and Lees sign new deals— 17 July 2013
The Yorkshire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that three players have signed contract extensions with the Club.
Opening batsman Alex Lees, who is in the squad for Yorkshire’s LV= Championship match at Derbyshire starting on Wednesday, has signed an extension to December 2015 along with wicket keeper batsman Dan Hodgson and attacking top order batsman Jack Leaning.
“It is very satisfying that we have managed to get all three players signed up on long-term deals,” said Yorkshire County Cricket Club Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon.
“They are progressing nicely into competent cricketers with bright futures at the club for many years to come.
“We have been delighted with the progress made by the lads this season. Alex (Lees) has established himself in the Championship squad and has scored some important runs including his maiden Championship century at Lord’s against Middlesex. Dan (Hodgson) has scored some important runs for the seconds and has contributed in Twenty20 cricket this season. Jack (Leaning) is making tremendous progress for the seconds and it won’t be long before he is knocking on the door of the first team.”
Yorkshire have signed nine players this summer on long-term deals. They include England internationals Jonny Bairstow and Tim Bresnan and established first-teamers, Gary Ballance, Steve Patterson and Moin Ashraf.
Meanwhile, Yorkshire have not offered a new contract to spinner Gurman Randhawa. Randhawa is now free to speak to other counties.
