Yorkshire were given a boost this morning, ahead of their LV= County Championship match at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield starting on Wednesday against Derbyshire, with the news that Andrew Gale has fully recovered from a broken bone in his left hand.
Gale, who has missed the last three Friends Life T20 matches with the injury, participated in a net at Headingley on Monday and came through without any problems.
“It feels fine,” he said.
“I have had a couple of nets this week and though you are apprehensive how the injury will react, it went well. Initially, there was some pain but after seven or eight balls I was feeling good.
“I am delighted to be back. It has been a frustrating few weeks missing out on a couple of T20 matches, but the main thing is that I will be ready for the Derbyshire Championship match and aiming to win it.”
Yorkshire will confirm their squad on Tuesday, but it is almost certain that Gale will be joined in the squad by Steve Patterson, who has returned to action in the past fortnight for the second team after recovering from a broken foot sustained against Surrey in the last Championship outing.
We’ll bring full team news and a preview on Tuesday.
