Yorkshire win by 10 wicket at Lord’s to go top of the Championship.
Yorkshire’s cricketers took just two hours on Friday to complete the ten-wicket victory over Middlesex which takes Andrew Gale’s side to the top of the LV= County Championship Division One table.
As on the previous three days of the game, Yorkshire’s cricket was ruthless, professional and impressive. Adil Rashid took a further two wickets to finish with 5-78 as Middlesex were dismissed for 219, leaving Adam Lyth and Alex Lees to score just five runs to win the game, a task they completed in 3.4 overs.
But this was a team triumph and no one epitomises Yorkshire’s approach at the moment better than Steve Patterson, who removed John Simpson for 21 and James Harris for 14 to take his tally of County Championship wickets for the season to 26.
The other wickets to fall on Friday were taken by Ryan Sidebottom and Liam Plunkett as Yorkshire’s bowlers and fielders followed up the outstanding work done by the first-innings centurions Lees and Gale.
