Jason Gillespie, Yorkshire’s head coach, hailed a “special performance” after watching his side concede 475 in the first innings but fight back to win by an innings on the final day.
“It was a pretty special performance to have 475 scored against us in the first innings and win by an innings is pretty special,” he said. “Our intent with the bat was fantastic and then to go out there with that aggression with the ball was superb. It was just a clinical performance.
“We’ve shown in different situations we can score runs and take wickets. The players have just got that belief, they have the attitude and the work ethic and that’s a great thing for our players to have. They want to do well for each other and that’s what we’re trying to create.”
Brooks added: “It was unbelievable really when you see how the first day and a half went. The spirit and fight in this team is just incredible which you saw with the way we went about our business with our batting.
“Some class players scored some important runs for us and we needed some people to stand up in this game and we had so much belief when we arrived this morning at the ground. We just knew we were in the game and we knew if we could put a bit of pressure on, you never know what can happen. “
