Yorkshire's women celebrate successful season— 30 September 2009
As the season ended on Sunday, Yorkshire’s successful women’s sides were at Haadingley Carnegie celebrating a tremendous 2009. Congratulations must go to all the girls on their success and to the volunteers who support them to develop and raise their game.
Yorkshire Senior Squad – Division 2 LV Women’s County Champions 2009
Yorkshire Women’s Senior Squad has been named as Division 2 LV Women’s County Champions 2009 earning them a long awaited return to Division 1 and the top flight of women’s cricket.
The players who contributed to achieving this success include: Salliann Briggs (Capt), Clare Atkinson, Charlotte Boulton, Beth Brown, Wendy Brown, Katherine Brunt, Robyn Childe, Kathryn Doherty, Phoebe Graham, Danielle Hazell, Katie Levick, Rochelle Petty, Emma Shillito, Aimee Simms, Anna Spragg, Laura Spragg, Lauren Winfield.
The squad is ably supported by their coaching and management team: Melissa Reynard (Manager), Billy Weaver (Head Coach) and Paul Farmer(Physio/Fitness Advisor).
After the relief of making it out of Division 3 last season the Senior squad were eager to make a real impact on Division 2 and they certainly did that. The Championship was won at New Rover CC when, with two games still left to go, the win against Middlesex put Yorkshire out of reach at the top of the table, and the squad went on to win the remaining two making it a clean sweep of 10 out of 10 wins.

Yorkshire u15s – National Quarter Finalists
It should be noted that the Yorkshire u15s also came very close to progressing in the competition making it to the Quarterfinals. In a last over Yorkshire lost out to Wales by 3 runs!
The most pleasing thing to see this year was the depth in our squads and the character shown by all the girls as many tight finishes showed. When it really mattered every player stepped up to the plate and contributed to real team performances.
A big thank you must go to everyone, particularly the volunteers and the parents who have contributed to getting the County Squads out this year, and particularly to the players for making the season such a success!
