Martyn Moxon confirmed at the end of the drawn match in Canterbury that Mitchell Starc, the 22-year-old Australian left-arm seamer, will be joining the Club as an overseas player. Assuming that the required paperwork is obtained, Starc will fly from Sydney on 4 May and be available for selection for the LV=County Championship match against Gloucestershire at Bristol on 9 May.
Yorkshire will need a Non Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Australian Cricket Board and to tie up the required work permits to add the Aussie to their 2012 squad.
Stark has recently played his fourth Test Match for Australia and so far in his international career has claimed 10 Test wickets at 32.50 and made useful lower order contributions with the bat.
He has played 7 One-Day Internationals and, although he is in the early stages of his playing career, is well thought of as a quality prospect whose bowling exhibits both pace and bounce.
