Headingley has been hosting international cricket since 1899 and in 2016 the famous old ground will host two internationals.

The historic venue will stage the first Test of the summer in 2016 when England take on Sri Lanka on Thursday May 19 to Monday May 23 in the Investec Test Match and later in the summer England will host Pakistan in the fourth Royal London One-Day International on Thursday September 1 2016.

History Timeline


Headingley Cricket Ground has been home to The Yorkshire County Cricket Club since 1890 and a venue for Test Matches since 1899.

From the staging the England versus Australia Test Match in 1899 to this summer’s first ever Test Match at the venue between England and Sri Lanka, Headingley has hosted 73 Tests.

England have won 31 times at Yorkshire’s home with 23 defeats and 18 draws. Headingley has hosted one neutral Test in 2010, when Pakistan defeated Australia. Read about the great moments down the years.
