The Yorkshire Pride Lottery is a vital part of the running of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The Lottery manages the charity partners of the Club, as well as widely supporting developing the Club’s younger talent.
Most recently, the Yorkshire Pride Lottery has partnered with Martin House Children’s Hospice in Wetherby, and last year raised a huge £5000 – enough to purchase a new bed for the hospice, enabling them to increase their reach across Yorkshire.
The Lottery was recently approached by Majorie Armitage, who’s husband Kevin Armitage died last year. In his legacy, Marjorie has set up the Kevin Armitage Scholarship, an incredible opportunity offered to an Academy or Junior player of Yorkshire County Cricket Club to travel and train overseas through the winter.
The first recipient of the Kevin Armitage Scholarship was Ben Coad, who flew to Australia to train at the Darren Lehmann Academy for 6 weeks through January and February.
It costs as little as £1 a week to join the lottery and support the growth talented cricket players in the county as well as providing funds for local charities close to our hearts.
Alongside the benefits of supporting the charity, you can also win great prizes each week in the Lottery Draw.
Each week, four lucky winners can be the recipeint of £100, with another 10 winning £10. The jackpot starts at £250 a week, and if there are no winners rolls over until a winner is placed.
And it doesn’t have to end there – the lottery runs a raffle on each match day to win a bat signed by the team. Look out for the lottery volunteers wearing orange t-shirts before the game!
A Note from Jane
Jane Ferguson, founder and manager of the Yorkshire Pride Lottery is heavily involved with all work the Club does through it’s charity partners.
She is extremeley proud of all the work the players, staff and volunteers have offered over the years and, now in it’s eighth year, is looking forward to seeing where the Lottery can take to next.
“We are extremeley lucky that so many of our members support the Lottery and therefore the Club’s development. So many of Yorkshire’s stars have developed through the stages and I’m proud that the Lottery can help with that.”
“I feel very priveleged to be able to work with Martin House Children’s Hospice. They are all extremeley inspiring and do wonderful work for children and their families with terminal illnesses throughout the whole of Yorkshire. They rely solely on charitable donations and I’m very proud that we are able to continue to support them.”
“I have to thank all the Members, Volunteers and everyone who gets involved with the Lottery. It’s true when I say without them, so much would not have been achieved. Please continue to support the Yorkshire Pride Lottery where you can, it is very much appreciated by so many of our players, coaches and charity partners.”
